Carbon Sequestration Plant Operator
Carbon sequestration is on the forefront of the fight against carbon dioxide. By sequestrating carbon dioxide, it can be stored and prevented from entering the atmosphere.
The career outlook for a carbon sequestration operator is good. They make on average $17-$21 an hour.
This is a fairly new field of study, but it is growing rapidly, so there is going to be a demand for knowledgeable workers in this field. Earning amount is hard to gauge and may change.
Carbon dioxide is created in large amounts by the burning of fossil fuels. To cut down on the pollution caused by this, some scientists have put forward the idea of catching the carbon dioxide that is produced by coal burning factories and other power generating factories. Then the carbon dioxide could be pumped deep underground or under the ocean floor to be stored.
This field is going to require a lot of forward-thinking individuals. While it is possible to capture carbon dioxide as a by-product from factories, new and better ways to do this are going to need to be thought up all the time, and ways to store it safely are going to need to be designed and implemented.
To get into this field, a degree in Engineering would be a good way to go. Other studies on alternative energies, chemistry, and various environmental studies will go a long way toward getting you a position in this field.
The right person to get into these jobs will be creative and ambitious. You will also need to be an effective people-person. You will need the ability to think up strong plans and be able to present them effectively to those who might be able to implement them. You also need the ability to talk to anyone you need to, be it scientists, engineers, or factory owners.
An attention to detail is also important for those who want to make carbon dioxide sequestration plans. Being able to thing an abstract project through from start to finish isn't always easy, but if you think you can do it, this area of work and study might be perfect for you.
